Self-Service FAQs

How much time should I book?
This depends on your dog and their coat type; however, we recommend 45 minutes for a small dog, 60 minutes for a medium dog, and 90 minutes for a large dog. A thicker or longer coat type may well need additional time. Feel free to contact us for advice if you are unsure. Unfortunately, we are unable offer refunds for grooms who finish early.

What happens if I overrun?
When you book your slot, we will discuss your dog's size and coat type to ensure you book the right amount of time for your groom. However, if you need more time on the day, we will charge an additional £5.00 per 15-minute block used. Time used will be rounded up to the nearest 15 minutes.

Do you offer a walk-in service?
Our working salon prides itself on offering a calm, relaxing environment for dogs on a one-to-one basis. We therefore pre-book all of our grooming slots to ensure there are no crossovers between dogs. As a result, we are unable to offer walk-in service.  Feel free to contact us to book in advance.

What is the minimum age for booking?
To ensure safety, we ask that anyone booking to use the salon is 18 years of age or older.

Can I bring my family along?
Bathing your dog is a fabulous way to bond as a family, but our salon space is limited, so we ask that no more than two people are present during the groom. An adult must accompany under-18s.

Can I bring more than one dog along?
Yes, as long as you can groom the dogs during the time slot you have booked. For larger dogs, you may wish to book two separate self-service slots.

I haven't used a salon before. Are you able to help me?
When you arrive at our salon for the first time, we will, of course, talk you through the safe use of all the equipment and help you choose the correct shampoo, conditioner, and coat sprays. We will also be on hand during the groom time, just in case you get stuck.  For future visits, we can skip the intro as long as you're okay with that.

How do I get my dog into the bath or onto the grooming table?
A non-slip ramp is available for use with both the bath and the table. The grooming table is height-adjustable for your comfort. If your larger dog needs a little persuasion, we would, of course, be happy to lend a hand.

My dog uses a specialist shampoo. Can I bring this along?
Of course you can! We cannot store medicated shampoos/conditioners on site, so please remember to take them home and bring them back for your next visit.

Does my dog need vaccinations?
All our clients are asked to ensure their dogs are fully vaccinated while on our premises. You will be asked to sign our Terms and Conditions before using the facilities, which state that your dog is fully covered. We will also ask you to bring along your dog's vaccination record.

Can I use the salon when my dog is in season?
Both male and female dogs use our salon. For everyone's comfort, we ask that your dog not be in season during grooming.

Will there be other dogs in the salon at the same time?
No, we offer exclusive use of the salon during your stay; however,  we do have two very accepting dogs of our own in the house.  If your dog is not tolerant of other dogs, please let us know before booking so we can arrange for our dogs to be out of the area when you arrive and when you leave.

What should I do if I find fleas or ticks on my dog while grooming?
If you suspect your dog has fleas, you must inform us as soon as possible. We reserve the right to cancel the grooming appointment and charge £15.00 to cover the cost of cleaning the environment. If you discover that your dog has ticks, please inform us. We have tick removal tools available and may be able to help with removal.

What should I do if I discover matting on my dog?
As responsible groomers, we work in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006, which aims to prevent unnecessary suffering to animals. Matting can be painful, and its removal must be carefully considered. If you notice matting on your dog during washing, please let us know. We will be happy to assess the matting, offer advice, and perhaps book your dog in for a professional mat removal service.

Is there parking available?
Yes, however, parking is limited, so we ask our clients to bring just one vehicle.
